Fingerstyle Guild and the Future
Hello, everyone, and all of my dear students. Fingerstyle Guild has been something I've been meaning to get off the ground for a while now. And I'm finally getting to the point where I've got a new studio set up and a new outlook on music and life. This is just a quick post to everyone that's joined the free and paid tiers here that I'm going to be rebuilding the website using a different web stack.
What does that mean for you? Well, it means a lot of actually pretty cool stuff. Instead of just using old school video tutorials, the future website is going to be very rich in interactive modules and web software. And the reason I've decided to do this is because I've taken the last six months to completely master AI software engineering. While I attended college for classical guitar performance, my actual job these days is software engineering. I've been an engineer for almost a decade now. And these new tools have literally given me almost unlimited ability to create new and fun things.
So instead of continuing down the same route that I think has been sort of beaten to death, I'm going to forge a new route. I think the Internet is already chock-full of teachers that teach guitar via video, and I find most of the content to be sensational and not very high quality. This unfortunately has led me to dread making more educational videos. Since the only way to actually move the needle forward in terms of my own income and time input as a teacher is to be on what is referred to as the content mill. We've all seen the videos. "Top 5 mistakes you're making as a fingerstyle player", "The secret that unlocked my fretboard fluency", & other such garbage clickbait.
Stay tuned and get ready for something very special in the coming month or two.
Warm Regards,
Ross the Music Teacher
